About the Artist:  Melissa Shuttlesworth

I love vintage neon signs.  I find the charm and humor they employ to capture our attention wonderful.  In my extensive travels of the USA, I have made a point to photograph these fading beauties before they disappear forever.  Photoshop is an integral part of my process towards the final presentation of the sign in print form.  I remove all background to focus on the sign alone.  Colors are enhanced, neon fixed.  In my “digital restoration”, I like to keep some of the rust and wear the sign has endured.  The goal isn’t perfection but a reminder of life lived and journeys taken.
